Costco Saunas 2026: Prices, Infrared vs Barrel

CostRefund Team

Quick answer: Costco sells 33 home saunas on costco.com (as of October 22, 2026), almost all online only. Most are Dynamic far-infrared and full-spectrum indoor saunas (about $1,800 to $9,000) or Almost Heaven traditional saunas, including outdoor barrels (about $3,300 to $7,500). Indoor infrared models plug into a standard 120V outlet; traditional and barrel saunas need a 240V hardwired circuit and an electrician. Shipping is included and delivered curbside; you assemble it yourself. Several models are $700 to $1,200 off right now, which matters for the price adjustment if you already bought one.

Key takeaways

  • Range: $299.99 (portable steam) to $16,999.99, with most between $1,799.99 and $7,499.99.
  • Infrared (Dynamic): indoor, plugs into 120V, warms up quickly, lower air temperature.
  • Traditional and barrel (Almost Heaven and others): hotter, with steam, many outdoors; 240V hardwired at 30 to 40 amps.
  • Delivery: curbside by freight, signature required, no help unpacking or assembling.
  • Check the September 2026 Sauna360 recall if you own a Finnleo, Tylö, Helo or other Sauna360-brand infrared sauna bought at Costco since 2013.

Infrared vs traditional vs barrel: which Costco sauna?

Far-infrared (Dynamic, indoor): infrared panels warm your body directly rather than heating the air, so the air in the cabin stays cooler than a traditional sauna and it heats up faster. The 2-person models plug into a standard 120V, 15-amp outlet; the 3-person Bellagio needs 120V/20A. They fit in a spare room or basement and are the easiest to set up. "Full-spectrum" models add near- and mid-infrared panels.

Traditional (Almost Heaven and others): an electric heater with stones heats the air to sauna temperatures, and you can pour water on the stones for steam. The heaters (6 to 8 kW, often Harvia) need a 240V hardwired circuit at 30 to 40 amps. Almost Heaven says to have a licensed electrician do it.

Barrel saunas: a traditional sauna in a round cedar or spruce barrel, built to sit outside on a level base. They're the most "Nordic" option, and the heaviest: the 4–6 person Ripley weighs about 1,100 lb shipped.

Hybrid: combine infrared panels with a traditional heater (for example, the Dynamic Soria, 240V/30A).

Delivery and assembly

Every Costco sauna listing says standard shipping by common carrier is included. Delivery is curbside, a signature is required, and drivers "do not assist with un-packaging or set-up." Expect about 2 to 6 weeks depending on the model. There's a limit of two per membership, and delivery to Alaska, Hawaii and Puerto Rico costs extra.

Assembly is DIY. Almost Heaven says two or three people can build a barrel sauna "in just a handful of hours" and a cabin-style sauna can take "2-3 full days." Plan the base (a level concrete pad or deck for outdoor models) and the electrical work before it arrives.

Wiring cost: an electrician typically charges about $250 to $800 for a new 240V circuit, more if your panel needs an upgrade or the run is long. Get a quote before you order a traditional or barrel sauna.

Running cost: multiply the heater's kilowatts by the hours you use it and your electricity rate. An 8 kW heater at full power for one hour at the 2026 US average of about 18 cents per kWh is roughly $1.45. Infrared saunas draw less (about 1.7 to 2.2 kW).

Warranties

Costco's sauna listings point to the manufacturer's warranty, and the fine print differs:

  • Almost Heaven: limited lifetime warranty on the sauna room; the Harvia heater has 1 year on the heating elements and 5 years on other heater parts. Contiguous US only, original owner.
  • Dynamic (Golden Designs): advertised as a "Limited Lifetime Warranty," but the terms define it as 5 years (residential) on the heaters and electronics and 1 year on the wood structure. Indoor use only; putting an indoor model outside voids it.

Can you return a Costco sauna?

Yes. Saunas fall under Costco's satisfaction guarantee; the 90-day limit applies to electronics such as TVs and computers, not saunas. Because they're delivered by freight, returns go through Costco's freight-return process: the carrier contacts you within 5 to 7 business days to schedule a pickup, generally the same way it was delivered, and you're refunded once the pickup is confirmed. Practically, an assembled sauna has to be taken apart and repacked, so decide before you build it if you can.

Price drops on Costco saunas

Saunas are a category where Costco's 30-day price adjustment pays off. Promotions of $600 to $1,200 off come and go on costco.com: the Almost Heaven Duet was $600 off in October 2024, the Sanctum had a September 2025 promotion, and this week five models are $700 to $1,200 off.

Costco's rule for online orders: if the price drops within 30 days of your purchase, you can ask for the difference, and for promotions, "a price match request must be submitted within both the active promotional dates and 30 days of the purchase date." On a $1,000 promotion, that's worth checking. CostRefund watches your Costco purchases and alerts you when the price drops, so you don't have to check costco.com every day.

The 2026 Sauna360 recall

On September 17, 2026, Sauna360 recalled about 41,580 infrared and hybrid saunas and infrared kits in the US (and 6,758 in Canada) because infrared panels can short-circuit and overheat, a fire and burn hazard. They were sold at Costco stores and on costco.com from May 2013 to July 2026, for about $6,000 to $13,000, under the Finnleo, Tylö, Helo, Radiant Health, Saunatec and Sauna360 brands. Stop using an affected sauna immediately. The remedy is a free in-home repair by a professional installer: contact Sauna360 at 866-936-5962 (weekdays, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET) or recall@sauna360.com. No recall names the Dynamic or Almost Heaven saunas currently listed.

Costco saunas in Canada

Costco Canada's lineup differs: it includes Dynamic infrared saunas, Westinghouse infrared models, and outdoor barrel and cabin saunas from Canadian brands such as Dundalk Leisurecraft. Almost Heaven saunas don't appear on costco.ca. Check costco.ca for current models and prices in Canadian dollars.

FAQ

Does Costco sell saunas in the warehouse?

A few. Most Costco saunas are online only, but some models (such as the Dynamic Tuscany Elite and the HoMedics portable steam sauna) are also stocked in some warehouses.

Do Costco infrared saunas need an electrician?

Most 2-person Dynamic infrared saunas plug into a standard 120V, 15-amp outlet; some larger ones need a 20-amp circuit. Traditional, barrel and hybrid saunas need a 240V hardwired circuit installed by an electrician.

How long does Costco take to deliver a sauna?

Usually 2 to 6 weeks, by freight, delivered curbside.

Is a Costco sauna worth it?

Costco's prices include shipping, its satisfaction guarantee covers saunas, and frequent promotions make the 30-day price adjustment useful. The trade-offs are DIY assembly and, for traditional saunas, the cost of the electrical work.
