How much laptop do you need?
| If you mostly… | Look for | Typical Costco price |
|---|---|---|
| Browse, email, stream, homework | 8 GB memory, Chromebook or entry Windows | $279.99–$700 |
| Office work, photos, lots of tabs | 16 GB memory, 512 GB–1 TB SSD | $700–$1,300 |
| Creative work, long-term keeper | 24–32 GB memory, OLED or Apple M5 | $1,400–$2,500 |
| Gaming | GeForce RTX 5060 or 5070, 32 GB memory | $1,500–$2,600 |
16 GB of memory is the sweet spot in Costco's range (37 models); only 8 still ship with 8 GB, and those are the budget machines.
Warranty, protection and returns
Up to 2 years of warranty
Costco extends the manufacturer's warranty on computers (touchscreen tablets excepted) for up to 2 years from purchase, or delivery for online orders, through Costco Technical and Warranty Services, with free US-based tech support.
Drops and spills cover
Allstate's 3-year Drops & Spills protection is sold for new computers of $500 and up ($99.99 on October 22, 2026, 2,540 member reviews). MacBooks can add AppleCare+ instead.
90 days to return
Computers can be returned within 90 days of the day you received them. Most other Costco items have no deadline; electronics are the exception.
More in our Costco laptop return policy guide.
Getting money back when laptop prices drop
Laptop prices drop fast as new models arrive. If the laptop you bought gets cheaper within 30 days, Costco's price adjustment policy gets you the difference.

Get the laptop you need now; there’s no reason to wait for a sale.
- 2
Watch 30 days
An instant saving, a new-model markdown or a holiday offer lowers the price.
- 3
Claim it
Costco.com orders: the online price adjustment form. Warehouse: the membership counter.
Watch the cents: the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 15.3" (pen included) was $1,199.97 that day, and a price ending in .97 usually means a markdown (see our guide to Costco price codes). The big laptop offers usually arrive around Black Friday.
Let the 30 days watch themselves
Scan your Costco receipt and CostRefund alerts you when something you bought in the last 30 days goes on sale, with the countdown to your price adjustment window.

What warranty do laptops have at Costco?+
Costco extends the manufacturer's warranty on computers (touchscreen tablets excepted) for up to 2 years from the date of purchase, or delivery for online orders, through Costco Technical and Warranty Services, which also provides free tech support. Allstate's 3-year Drops & Spills protection can be added for computers of $500 and up.
How long do you have to return a laptop to Costco?+
Computers have a 90-day return window, counted from the day you received the laptop. Most other Costco merchandise can be returned at any time; computers, TVs and other electronics are the main exception.
Should I buy a MacBook at Costco?+
It's worth comparing. On October 22, 2026 Costco.com sold the MacBook Neo from $689.99, the 13-inch MacBook Air (M5) from $1,149.99 and the 14-inch MacBook Pro (M5) at $1,959.99, Costco's warranty extension on computers and its 90-day return window apply to them too. Compare with Apple's own price on the day you buy.
Does Costco price adjust laptops?+
Yes. If a laptop you bought drops in price within 30 days, Costco's price adjustment policy lets you ask for the difference: Costco.com orders through the online price adjustment form, warehouse purchases at the membership counter. Costco treats online and warehouse prices separately and decides final eligibility.
